Mohamed S.'s Group's story

Meet with this group of primary school teachers from the village of Fadugu, near Kabala town in northern Sierra Leone. This group of able and dedicated staff have come to Kiva field partner SMT to apply for a loan of 4,500,000 SLL for the entire team in order to solve their most immediate and most pressing financial needs. And at the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan using their salaries. It is their school’s bursar who is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf. This is the second loan that this group of teachers has applied for from SMT/Kiva lenders. Previous Kiva loan made a huge impact these borrowers.

Nancy is the current featured leader of the group. A native of Fadugu, the 53-year-old woman is married to a farmer and they have 4 children, 2 of whom are attending primary school and 2 in of whom are secondary. Nancy has been a school teacher for 32 years now. She has requested this loan in order to pay school fees for her children.
