Gertude

A loan of $175 helped to buy more charcoal, oil, salt, pepper, salt, and other items for her business.

Gertude's story

Gertude is 48 years old and married. She lives in Kakata Town, the capital City of Margibi County, which is the highest producing rubber plantation in Liberia; she has nine children between 10 and 30 years old, only two of whom are in school and live at home. She stopped her education in grade 6th.

For the past seven years, she has been selling charcoal, oil, salt, pepper, salt and other items from a table in the market. She focuses on this table business because the market for such a business in Liberia is very strong. She established this business with a loan from her mother. She enjoys the independence her income gives her. She is requesting a loan to buy more charcoal, oil, salt, pepper, salt and other items for her business. Her plans are to build a shop and a house for her children.
