A loan of $1,575 helped a member to purchase farm inputs and seeds.

Benkadi 1 Group's story

The members of the group "BENKADI 1" are married women averaging 40 years of age and four children each, all living in polygamous families in FANIDIAMA, a village in KADIOLO, in Région SIKASSO (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their farm work during the rainy season. They are on their eleventh loan with the institution. The past loans were indeed paid back.

The crop grown is peanuts, as is the case with NATOGOMA, who is standing in the middle of the photo. With her loan, she intends to purchase seeds and fertilizer for maintaining 0.5 hectare.

After the harvest, the produce is sold in the village at the market to a customer base composed of men and women. She plans on making a profit of 20,000 francs CFA per planting. This profit will enable her to repay the loan and also to help her husband to cover day-to-day expenses.

In this group: Natogoma, Mamine Lamissa, Alima Salif, Chata Yawaga, Alima Fousseni, Piagnan, Awa Zagadjan, Mamine Napaga, Anchitan Solodjan, Fatoumata
