A loan of $1,275 helped a member to purchase farm inputs and seeds and to pay for plowing.

Bekaban Allakasson 2 Group's story

The ten members of the group "Bekaban Allakasson 2" are married women averaging 40 years of age and three children each, all living in traditional families in Kapaga, a village in KADIOLO (SIKASSO), 3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali. The women are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to carry out their farm work during the rainy season. They are on their seventh loan with the institution. The past loans were indeed paid back.

The crops grown is corn, as is the case with TIEPEKE, who is standing in the middle of the photo. With her loan, she intends to purchase farm inputs and seeds and to pay for plowing for maintaining 2 hectares.

After the harvest, the produce is sold in the village. She sells to a customer base composed of men and women. She plans on making a profit of 150,000 francs CFA per planting. This profit will enable her to repay the loan and also to help her big family to cover day-to-day expenses, as well as to help pay for the children's schooling.
