A loan of $1,400 helped a member to expand their businesses.

Habijan's Group's story

Habijan baji is the wife of B. A. and lives in the city of Kot Radha Kishan, Pakistan. She has lived in a two-room brick house for the last 35 years, and is the mother of four children: two sons and two daughters. Her husband is a land contractor (he rents land and farms it). He has worked in this area for the last 25 years. Habijan has successfully repaid three loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute in Pakistan) and is now applying for a loan to rent land for her husband.

She is applying for this loan with several other people. Sugran baji wants a loan to rent land. Bashiran baji wants a loan to buy wood for her furniture business. Sugran baji wants a loan to buy a buffalo to resell. Parveen baji wants a loan to buy inventory for her grocery store.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
