Bertha's story

Bertha, 74, is a charismatic, enterprising woman. She’s a single mother of three children; they live in her own house. Bertha works making clothes; she sews for women, men and children for all occasions. She does this activity at home in an environment that’s well-equipped with sewing machines and furniture; she tends to her customers very kindly there. She works half time for a private firm and does this activity in the afternoon. When she started out she only had one machine that she bought with help from her family but now she’s well equipped. She does this activity alone. Before starting this business her salary wasn’t enough. She hopes to continue growing and to buy new machines and to expand the business.

Therefore, this will be her 7th Kiva loan. She’s very happy to be able to rely on the financial support she’s getting because she moves forward with her business this way and she will become a great businesswoman. She will use the requested 1,000 new sol loan to buy sewing supplies like fabric, elastic and thread, among others.
