Roseann's story

This is Roseann from Liberia. She lives in Paynesville North, which is a suburb of the capital city of Monrovia. Paynesville North has the largest market in Montserrado County. The area is home to “round time marketers”, traders that travel to the interior to purchase various goods to sell throughout the county. As a result, there is a high concentration of wholesalers in the area who distributes to various markets around Montserrado County, including Monrovia.

She is 35, married with two children. Her children ages are 5 and 3. They are currently living at home and are in school. Roseann owns her own provision shop selling oil, sardines, rice, milk, flour, sugar, toothpaste, soap, etc., for the past seven years. She will use the loan proceeds to purchase more inventory.

On average, she works from 7 am to 6 pm at her business. She started her business with help from her husband. She transports her merchandise by taxi. She cites lack of inventory as her biggest challenge. Her favorite part of her business is the flow of customers. In the future, she would like to build a modern house.
