Noupagagnon 5 Group's story

The members of NOUPAGAGNON 5 Group are married women averaging 40 years of age and four children. They all live in polygamous families in Tiewarala, one of the villages in Sikasso, third administrative region of Mali.

They work with Kiva's partner, the MFI Soro Yiriwaso, in order to successfully carry out their farming business during the rainy season. They are seeking their fifth loan from the MFI, and the previous ones were repaid without problems.

Kadia is the woman standing in the center in the photograph. Her crop is peanuts. With her loan, she intends to buy farm inputs and seeds to maintain one hectare.

After the harvest, the production is sold in the village and at the market in Sikasso, to a clientele comprising both men and women.

She intends to turn a profit of XOF 115'000 (ca US$ 230) per farming cycle, which will enable her to repay the loan and help her husband cover daily expenses.
