Twifo Praso, Ghana / Used Clothing

A loan of $250 helped to purchase second-hand clothing to sell.

Abena's story

Even though Abena grew up in poverty without an education, this has not stopped her from fulfilling her dream of achieving a better life for her and her family. Currently, she sells second-hand clothing in Twifo Praso, near Cape Coasat. Abena's business has grown substantially since she began six years ago. She uses the income from her business to help her husband raise their two children. Abena has identified growing customer demand for her clothing, but is unable to meet this demand due to her limited inventory capacity.

Abena is requesting a loan to purchase more second-hand clothing to sell. With the profits from her loan, she wants to buck the trend by ensuring that her children will be given the opportunity to further distance themselves from poverty.
