Mom is 56 years old and lives in Mohaleaph village, which is in the Samraong Tong district of Kompong Speu. She is married, the mother of three children and had to end her education at the primary level due to financial constraints. After she quit studying, she learned agricultural from her parents. Today, her husband helps her manage their farm and sell their produce in various local markets. Mom is applying for a loan for $1,000 to buy a motorbike, which will allow her family to travel safely to nearby areas of their province. Her goal for the future is to improve her home and build a comfortable bathroom for her family.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
