A loan of $375 helped to pay for additional stock of merchandise like men's clothing, women's clothing and kids' clothing needed in her business.

Melchora's story

This is Melchora, 52, a resident of GMA, Cavite, Philippines. She is married to Johnny and they have children. She and her husband manage their household while operating the business. She works hard to provide income for their everyday expenses.

Melchora operates the buy-and-sell business of her family. What she basically does is buy general merchandise from wholesalers, and then sell it with a little profit. Her products are men’s and women’s clothes and other products of the like. Customers are attracted to buy due to the low selling prices and the many options she offers. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of 300 Philippine Pesos (PHP) in sales every day.

To help her continue operations of her business, she is requesting a PHP 15,000 loan. She will use the loan to buy additional stock of merchandise like men's clothing, women's clothing and kids' clothing needed in her business.

Melchora hopes that her business will get bigger. She dreams to give her children a good life and education. She meets up with her co-fellowship* members every week to share stories of her life and business and to also draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God she studies.

* All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay microfinance loans.
