A loan of $400 helped to buy potato seeds to sow.

Ma Angela's story

María Ángela, age 57, is married and has had a stable household for many years. She has two children, and they get involved in growing the vegetables, corn, beans, and coffee, among other crops. She completed elementary school, thanks to her parents’ support. When she was young they taught her to work the land because they had been farmers their whole lives. Her oldest child, who is married, her husband, and she are involved in this business activity. The product that is grown is distributed and sold at the local market and to intermediaries who come to the area in order to resell. She is currently requesting a loan from COMIXMUL in order to be able to buy quality, certified potato seeds. She will do this in order to be able to cultivate in a more secure and effective manner. Her dream is to buy another piece of land in order to sow on a greater scale. This is because she saves all of the profits that she manages to get in order to fulfill her dream and to continue reinvesting so that it will be possible.
