A loan of $1,475 helped to hire local workers.

Nadya's story

Nadya is 23 years old and married with one eight-year-old daughter that lives with her in her home. Nadya works in the fields growing organic cacao and coffee to support her family. She works with her husband's help on her two hectares of land. She also tries to keep her plants in good condition because this allows her to obtain high quality products that can be sold at a good price. When it is time to harvest she hires local workers to pick the ripe beans, which are then air-dried outdoors. Later they are stored in appropriate sacks and taken to the city market. This is her fourth Kiva loan and she is grateful for the financial support she receives to keep her business going. This time she wants to have 4,000 nuevos soles so that she can hire local workers and clear the undergrowth from her crops.
