Alejandra lives at Estrella, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental. She is a 49-year-old, married woman, who has six children. She and her husband are engaged in farming, to support themselves and their children. They cultivate bananas and root crops, and also harvest coconuts for sale. She has been doing this kind of business for many years.
Recently, Alejandra requested a loan from GDMPC. She intends to use the loan to finance the cost of weeding the farm, and to purchase fertilizer such as manure. She hopes to see her children successful and have better living conditions for the entire family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
