A loan of $325 helped a member to buy fertilizer and rice seeds for her farmland.

Louy's Group's story

Louy is a 59-year-old widowed mother of five children who lives in a rural area of the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, Cambodia. To make a living, she has been farming rice on a five-hectare area of land for 15 years. The current business earns her about 12,000 KHR per day to meet the family’s needs and she can save about 3,000 KHR each day after expenses. Louy has been with VisionFund for five loans while the other member has been with VisionFund for six loans. Louy completely paid back the past loans which have helped her relieve her family’s financial burden. Now she is leading her group to ask for another loan. She wants to use her portion to buy fertilizer and rice seeds for her farmland. She hopes this loan will enable her to increase her crop yield so as to make a better living.
