A loan of $450 helped to buy fertilizer, seeds, guinea pigs and chickens.

Janneth Lucia's story

Janneth is taking out her third loan from the Nuevo Bankito la Ramada community bank. She lives in the Nabon parish of Cuenca, a region that has a cold climate and is surrounded with luxuriant vegetation due to its hilly geography. Its architecture is a mix of traditional and modern and its people still keep their traditions alive.

Janneth is 30 years old, she is married and her marriage has produced three children: a 10 year old, an 8 year old and a 10-month-old baby. Her two older children attend a small school in the area. Her husband is a professional driver and works driving a small bus. They own the house that they live in.

Janneth's parents taught her how to work as a farmer when she was a child. She works growing vegetables and raising guinea pigs, chickens and livestock. These activities allow her to go into the house to care for her children.

She will invest her loan in the purchase of fertilizer, seeds, guinea pigs and chickens.

Her dream is to have a store in her house.
