A loan of $375 helped to purchase copperwood plants.

Leonora's story

Leonora is 54 years old. She is a single mother to two children who live in her home made from adobe. Leonora works as a farmer on her 2 hectacres of land where she has a quantity of cocoa trees as well as achiote and turmeric. She also has some fruit trees such as coconut, banana, and other fruits that she sells at the Sunday markets in the city. This allows her to earn additional income. She maintains her land with organic fertilizer, which she purchases at wholesale for a low price since she believes it is a good way to obtain better quality fruit.

In the last season, she noticed that she has some cocoa trees that are not able to give fruit any longer. She wants to purchase copperwood plants to replace them and keep her land producing constantly.

One of her main objectives is to improve her home and build it with bricks and cement to improve her quality of life. This is her first loan with Kiva and she hopes to have the necessary financial support to move forward. She is requesting 1000 nuevos soles to purchase copperwood plants to replace the old plants on her land.
