Apolinaria and her husband have been farming for 20 years and their work focuses on maintain in good condition cocoa plantations and other plants that they own as these plants are their economic basis. She began with the help of her parents who gave her some farmland to earn money and help with family expenses because she and her husband had a child at that time. In order to improve her earnings she tries to keep her lands clean from pestilence and constantly fertilizes her farmland with organic fertilizer. When the work is very hard she contracts with workers who she pays to complete distinct agricultural tasks. She sells the crops she obtains to buyers in her area who pay an agreed-upon price depending on the quality of her products. This permits her to recoup the money that she invested with her additional earnings. this is her second loan with Kiva and she is grateful for the financial support she receives in order to continue with her business. With this loan she seeks 2000 nuevos soles to buy organic fertilizers and in this way feed her crops.
