Peaceful Group's story

Pictured here are members of the “Peaceful” group from Koidu, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. They are petty-businesswomen who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, in order to apply for a loan of SLL 500,000 for each in the group. With this loan, they will be able to add more goods to their respective businesses, attract more customers, make more sales and profit, and consequently improve on their living conditions. The featured leader of this group of entrepreneurs is Adama. Adama was born in Kombayinde, in eastern Sierra Leone. She is married to a farmer and has three children, two of whom are attending primary and secondary schools. Adama has been a businesswoman for four years now. She sells market-food items like tomatoes, etc. With her share of this loan, she is going to buy a large quantity of tomatoes, etc. to add to her current stock.
