A loan of $1,350 helped to buy fertiliser and manure to sow more coffee crops.

Maria Magdalena's story

María Magdalena is a mother to two children. She has been a widow since her husband died some time ago. She receives help from her children when they come home from school, as well as her parents and brother. María and her children live with her brother and his wife and two daughters. María has been making a living growing coffee since a young age. Her parents have been doing this work for a long time and it is a family tradition. Seeing a need to generate more income for the household, María also has a business selling kitchen utensils. This helps her greatly to cover basic costs such as food and medicines. The land that María works is 25 minutes from her house. The family travels there together to maintain and look after the crops.

María is currently applying for a loan to buy fertiliser and manure to sow and grow more coffee crops.

María's goal for this harvest is to be the best grower in the area. That way she will grow in credibility and gain more customers. As a mother, María's dream is to prepare her children to go to university so that they can study and find a job more easily. This plan is for the future.
