A loan of $1,200 helped to buy three bee colonies, two piglets, some chickens, and animal fodder.

Ofelya's story

Ofelya and her husband, who is retired now, own a small farm and a plot of private land for their family needs. They cultivate apples, nuts, plums and also some vegetables; potatoes, cucumbers and tomatoes. Their farm is not very rich, but they manage to have a small income from selling its products to their loyal customers right from their house. In their farm they keep two cows, three bee colonies, and fifteen chickens. They sell milk, cheese, meat, eggs and honey.

Ofelya lives in Khachatryan village in Tavush area. Ofelya is a really hard-working woman, since she combines her work with their farming activities. She works as a leading specialist in her village agriculture. For many years Ofelya and her husband lived and worked in Azerbaijan, but 25 years ago they came back to their homeland because it was a really peaceful and native land where they could live and have children. They have two daughters who are married and live with their families.

Ofelya asks a loan of 500,000 Armenian drams to buy three bee colonies, two piglets, some chickens, and animal fodder. It is Ofelya’s first loan from Kiva but she has taken from Nor Horizon already twice and successfully paid it back.
