Atene is a 21 year old married woman with two children. She would like to start growing cabbages, beans, carrots and tomatoes to earn a living. Atene has requested a loan to buy vegetable seeds, fertilizer, a file for knife sharpening, bush knives and a weed sprayer. She became a member of SPBD in 2013.
Atene will spend her profits to support her children's education.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
