Evelyn Yomary's story

Primero de Abril Communal Bank meets every two weeks in Montecristi Canton, known for its rich pre-colonial culture and its nationally and internationally recognized handicrafts. This is the place where the famous paja toquilla [or "Panama"] hats are made.

This is where Evelyn lives. She's 33 years old and married, and from this relationship has two children, ages 16 and 14. Her students attend school and her husband has a workshop.

Evelyn is a very good wife who's getting the loan for her husband to use in his job. He has an aluminum and glass workshop where he and a helper make doors, windows, and other things with these materials. They work almost all day from Monday through Saturday. Her husband has had the shop for more than 17 years and he has gotten his family ahead with it. For her part, Evelyn sometimes sells all types of clothing in her spare time.

This loan is to buy aluminum, glass, and other materials her husband uses in his shop. She has been with the communal bank since the beginning and she likes it because of their help with the loans.

Her dream is to give her children the best and for them to be good professionals.
