A loan of $500 helped to buy six bags of fertilizer and other agricultural supplies.

Teresa De Jesús's story

Teresa is 45 and married. She has worked in agriculture for 20 years with her husband, and it is her only source of income. Because of poverty, she and her husband did not go to school. Despite not having children because one of them is infertile, they have worked very hard together cultivating corn at the foot of a hill. They carry their supplies on their backs for several kilometres. In order to go out and buy new supplies, Teresa has to walk one kilometre on foot to the bus stop. She will then take the bus to the city, a journey which takes about thirty minutes.
This loan from Fundacion Campo is for the purchase of six bags of fertilizer and other supplies for cultivating 7,000 square metres of corn and 7,000 square metres of beans. Once she has purchased all the supplies all at once, she will apply them at the right time and in the right quantity. She won't have to go out multiple times to acquire them. She dreams of having two dairy cows in order to always have a source of nutrition and to sell milk to the neighbours.
