A loan of $1,000 helped to buy fertilisers and manure to help her coffee crops.

Maria Concepcion's story

María is 40 years old, married and a mother to four children. She is a farmer but did complete high school and is a qualified primary school teaches. She gives classes to children in nursery and in the first year of primary school in her village. Children are María's passion. María's family have been farmers for generations and hers is no exception, as she works alongside her husband growing corn, beans and coffee to later sell at the local market or to wholesalers that come to the area. María owns the land that she works. Close to the house, she can arrive there by foot. She and her husband are the only people who work this land.

María needs help to buy fertilisers, manure and more in order to give their coffee crops some help and to maintain them. The plants look like they will produce a good harvest so María must take full advantage of this.

María plans to expand the area she uses to grow the crops on so that she can support her children with their studies. María hopes that, with this loan, she can improve her income and increase her profits. Her aim is to ensure a good yield this year and to take full advantage of it.
