A loan of $1,225 helped to buy stock merchandise for his store.

Oscar Ivan's story

Oscar Iván, 44, is single with three minor children. He’s from Achuapa, a place located in the northern zone of the country. He’s noted for being a hardworking, responsible person who very much wants to improve personally. Sadly, he was unable to attend university due to the lack of economic resources which is why he strives daily to provide a better future for his children.

Thanks to his spirit and drive to get ahead, his economic activity is selling basic grains and agricultural supplies. He spends about 10 hours daily selling his products. The objective of the loan is to invest in working capital and to buy products like basic grains, rice, beans, sugar, peanuts, sorghum, cereals and cocoa so that in the not too distant future he’ll earn better income. Oscar Iván is grateful for the support Kiva lenders give to people of scarce resources and to poor countries like Nicaragua so that they can have a way to earn a living with dignity.
