Benkadi 4 Group

The ten members of the Benkadi 4 group are married woman who, on average, are 30 years old and have two children. They all live in traditional families in Niantanaso, a village in the third administrative region of Mali (Sikasso). They are working with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to carry out their farming during the rainy season. They are on their seventh farm loan with the institution and all of their previous loans have been repaid.

Korotoumou, the second person seated on the right in the photo, grows, among other things, ground nuts, rice, and sweet peas. With her loan, she plans to buy farm inputs and to pay the cost of labor to maintain one hectare of land.

After the harvest, she sells her crops in the village to men and women customers.

She hopes to earn an average of 60,000 francs CFA per crop harvest. These earnings will allow her to help her husband in the everyday expenses.

Les dix membres du groupe Benkadi 4 sont des femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 30 ans et 2 enfants et vivant toutes dans des familles traditionnelles à NIANTANSO, un des villages de la 3ème région administrative du Mali (SIKASSO).
Elles collaborent avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso afin de mener à bien leurs activités agricoles pendant l’hivernage.
Elles sont à leur septième prêt de campagne agricole avec l’institution et tous les prêts précédents ont été correctement remboursés.
Les spéculations cultivées sont entre autre: l’arachide, le riz et le pois sucré avec KOROTOUMOU deuxième personne à droite de la photo position assise. Avec son prêt, elle compte acheter des intrants et payer les frais de labours pour entretenir 1 hectare.
La production est vendue au niveau du village après la récolte à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elle compte réaliser un bénéfice de 60.000FCFA en fin de campagne.
Ce bénéfice lui permettra d’aider son mari dans les dépenses quotidiennes.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
