United Brothers Group's story

In the photo are members of the “United Brothers” group. They are a small scale business based in Waterloo, a town in western Sierra Leone. This is the first loan these entrepreneurs are accessing from SMT/Kiva lenders. With this loan, they will be able to expand their respective businesses, make more profit and consequently improve on their standard of living.

The featured leader of this group is Mohamed. Mohamed is age 37; he was born in Kono, eastern Sierra Leone. Currently, he is residing in Waterloo, together with his wife and 4 children. His wife is a businesswoman and his children are attending primary schools. Mohamed is an okada driver (motor-bike taxi driver). He has requested a loan in order to buy a new motor-bike.
