A loan of $750 helped purchase fertilizers and compost for farming coffee.

Luisa's story

Luisa is 44 years old, married, and the mother of two children who live at home and depend on her and her husband for everything. She has a third-grade education and has farmed and planted coffee for her whole life, as her parents are farmers and it was them who taught her to work the land. The lands that she works are her own and when it comes to tending the land, only she and her husband are involved in the maintenance of the coffee crops such as cleaning, cutting, fertilizing, irrigating, etc.

She now wants to avoid harm to her crops, which, so far, are doing well, in case of plagues or plant illnesses such as pests, and she needs to fertilize and put down compost because this will keep her crops as safe and strong, both the plants and the beans.

Her plans for the future is to make her farming more technical to maintain better production and a better and more secure bean for sale because this is how she will be able to give her children an excellent education through income from coffee sales.
