A loan of $2,450 helped a member to pay college fees for her child.

Alice C.'s Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is very pleased to present to you this group of able and dedicated teachers from Benguma in western Sierra Leone, near the capital city of Freetown. They are applying for a loan of SLL 10,500,000 in order to meet their most urgent financial challenges. At the end of each month they can repay the loan, using their salaries. It is their school’s bursar who is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

Alice is the featured leader of this group. A native of Waterloo town, the 51-year-old has 2 children – 1 of whom is still in college and the other is no longer in school. Alice has been a professional teacher for 35 years now. She has requesed this loan in order to pay college fees for her child.

(These teachers came to the office in two separate batches to collect the loan, hence two different photos attached together)

In this group: Alice C., Fadiru , Jestina K., Euginia , Amadu D. W., Melrose , Dian , Princess O., Fatmata
