A loan of $1,100 helped to buy fishing equipment.

Gastelu's story

29-year-old Gastelu is a responsible son who lives together with his parents in his own home. In spite of his young age, he works very hard to provide his young daughter, Mariela, and his parents with a good future. His main business is farming and he puts a lot of attention into caring for the coffee and corn crops that he grows on his parents' land. In addition, Gastelu also catches freshwater fish. He goes to the river three times a week with his fishing equipment in search of fish which he then sells in the nearest market. His record for one day is a 30 kilo catch. Gastelu's aim is to buy industrial equipment and a small boat so that he can catch a larger quantity of fish and make more money. He would also like to save up enough money to buy his own farmland. He knows that by persevering he will achieve his aims.

Gastelu will invest the 3,000 soles he has requested in replacing his fishing equipment so that he can improve the number of kilos of fish he catches in a day.
