Vilayat's story

Vilayat is 31 years old and father of two children. He is an IDP (internally displaced person) and lives with his wife and children in the Bilasuvar IDP Settlement. He is a Fuzuli refugee. For the past eight years, he has been raising sheep because mutton is in high demand in this region. His income from this business is 140 AZN. This is a very profitable business and he is does it together with his wife. He keeps a flock of sheep in his own yard. He fattens them and takes their meat to the central bazaar, where butchers and customers purchase from him. People use mutton for traditional dishes like kababs, dolmas, pilovs, etc. Vilayat is applying for a loan of 1800 AZN to buy 12 sheep in order to sell more meat in summer. He is optimistic about this loan, because in summer more people consume meat, due to the holidays and increased customers in restaurants. This is his fourth loan.
