A loan of $750 helped to buy two calves and feed.

Umed's story

Umed is 23 years old, married, and has a young daughter. He and his family live with his parents in the Qubadiyon district. Umed is getting ready to start a livestock business. This is the most profitable branch of agriculture in Tajikistan due its natural geography, as 93% of the land consists of mountains and foothills. Qubadiyon is located in the foothills, where there is good pasture land. Umed is planning to buy and sell cattle. Every month he will buy two calves, fatten them up over the course of a month, and then sell them at a profit. He already has a 5x3 meter cowshed and 800 TJS in savings. He has asked for a loan in order to purchase the cattle and feed.
