A loan of $1,100 helped to buy fabric, threads, zips and other materials for sewing.

Amarilis Del Socorro's story

Every fortnight in San Eduardo street in the city of Portoviejo, Ciudad de Los Reales Tamarindos, the members of the “San Eduardo” Community Bank meet. There is a beautiful park nearby which is full of people because there are areas to play sport and enjoy nature.

This is where Señora Amarilis lives. She is married and has four children, who have already grown up. From the age of 12 she learned dressmaking in an academy of this city.

Amarilis is a good wife who works as a dressmaker in order to make her own money. She works in a sewing workshop close to her home from Monday to Friday, and in her home at night and weekends in a small workshop she has. There, she makes all different kinds of clothing, especially women's clothes, although she loves sports clothing. She has been in this activity for over 20 years, which has enabled her to support her family.

She has been a member of the Community Bank for over 11 years, and she likes it because of the help she has been given. She is going to use this loan to buy fabric, threads, zips and other materials to make her clothing.

Her dream is to have a bigger workshop.
