A loan of $825 helped to buy cocoa seedlings, pay for farm clearing, and also buy insecticides.

Julie's story

She is married with three children and they all live in a four-room apartment in Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon. She has faced some challenges in life which are: difficulties in her marital life, the death of both parents, sickness of family members, sudden death of friends and relatives, insufficient finances to successfully manage a business her own, and inability to educate her children.

With this new loan she has requested, she plans to increase her scale of cocoa production by buying more improved seedlings and paying laborers to clear and farm the land. She holds a positive view of the business succeeding because she has experience in the field. She plans to buy improved seedlings and she has regular customers who buy her produce. With this loan activity, the community will have access to enjoy cocoa-related products like chocolate, biscuit, sweets and Ovaltine since her produce will serve as raw materials to the companies producing these products.

With the profit from this loan she will better her children's education, expand her business, save some to cater for ill health, and also construct a house for her family. She prefers GHAPE loans because of low interest rates and convenient repayment intervals, and the training offered at GHAPE.
