Señora Angelica Veronica is single, 23 years old, attended three years of basic education, and makes a living by making textiles like skirts and guipiles (traditional Guatemalan blouses). She began this business after learning it from her mother, and up to this day has 13 years of experience. She relies on the support of her family.

She organized a group and requested a loan which she will use to buy thread to be able to make her textiles. In the future she wishes to sell her merchandise outside of the country.

The other members of the group make a living by making guipiles and skirts.

La señora Angelica Veronica de estado civil soltera, tiene 23 años de edad, curso 3 años de educación básica, ella se dedica a la confección de tejidos como cortes y guipiles, inició este negocio aprendiendo con su madre y hasta la fecha lleva 13 años de experiencia, ella cuenta con el apoyo de su familia.

Organiza un grupo y solicita un préstamo que lo utilizará para la compra de hilos para poder confeccionar sus jetidos, en el futuro desea vender su mercadería fuera del país; las demás integrantes del grupo se dedican a la confección de guipiles y cortes. En la fotografia solo aparecen 9 integrantes puesto que uno de ellas se le dificultó presentarse cuando tomaron la foto.

About Asociación ASDIR

ASDIR (Asociación de Desarrollo Integral Rural - Association for the Development of Rural Communities) is a community-based organization that works to promote development in the villages and communities where it serves. It was founded in 1999 in the village of Nimasac, Totonicapán Department, by a handful of local men and women to support community projects and group loans. Today ASDIR has 5 offices across 3 departments (Totonicapán, Sololá and Suchitepéquez) serving more than 6,000 clients, most of them in rural communities.

The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
