A loan of $400 helped to stock her salon with beauty products such as shampoo, dyes and creams.

Marlene Lizzette's story

Marlene, 41, is a single mother. She has a daughter and they live together in the municipality of Choloma, Cortés. Marlene has had this business for four years. Before, she worked for a maquila [factories normally operating in a free trade zone, assembling, processing or manufacturing for export]. Marlene offers different types of services in her salon: hair straightening, styling, ironing and coloring. She also does facial cleansing, manicure and pedicure.

Marlene has decided to request a loan of 8,000 Lempiras [HNL] with the intention to stock her salon with products from two different brands: shampoo, dyes, creams and other beauty products. She is planning to move her salon into a larger establishment and start selling food.
