A loan of $1,250 helped to purchase certified seed potatoes for cultivation.

Angela's story

Angela is a 48 year old woman. She is a widow and mother of three children. She has a primary school education and didn’t complete fourth grade. She lost her partner three years ago due to natural causes. Her three children are her only support, the only ones who are involved in the field work. Since the death of her partner, she has been looking for a way to generate income for her household. Currently, she has a strawberry production as well as a business selling tamales and home-cooked meals. She has had training with some organizations that have taught her how to care for and maintain her strawberry crops. However, when she was young, it was her parents that taught her this activity through experience. The land that she and her children cultivate, as well as the house they live in and own is thanks to the work of her and her partner. Currently, she is requesting assistance to purchase certified seed potatoes, organic fertilizer, and foliar fertilizer to maintain her strawberry crops and later, the potato crops. In the future, she plans to install a drip irrigation system, which is necessary to keep the sown seeds strengthened and nourished for their growth and development.
