A loan of $400 helped to purchase more rice, pepper, oil, etc. for her business.

Kula's story

Kula lives and works in St. Paul, which is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for their fish due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past the Free-port. It is one of the poorer areas and you will often find its residents living in sub-standard housing.

Kula is 34 years old and married with four children between 2 and 15. They are in school and live at home. For the past four years Kula has been operating a table business where she sells rice, pepper, oil, etc. She says that sometimes the buying goes slowly. Kula says she started this business by selling around in the communities with the little goods she could afford, and learned this way of selling from her friends.

She is requesting a loan to purchase more rice, pepper, oil, etc. for her business. Her plan is to expand her business even more.
