A loan of $375 helped to buy materials, blond lace, elastic and thread.

Maria's story

María is 63 years old and lives alone in her own house. Her children are now independent and live in other cities with their respective families. María makes a living producing and selling clothing for men, women and children. She does this work from home. She started eight years but has been doing similar work since she was very young as she enjoys designing and producing items. María likes the work as it allows her to use her creativity and to move forward in life, even though she is on her own. She hopes to open a stall in the city's market in the future, so that she can sell her clothes. This will be María's eighth loan with Kiva and she is very grateful for being given the opportunity that she needs in order to get ahead. With the loan of 1000 Nuevo Soles she will buy items such as material, blond lace, elastic and thread in order to continue producing clothing. She has a lot of orders to prepare articles of clothing for the towns' festivals.
