Graciela's story

Graciela, 39 years old, is a happy and friendly woman. She lives in her own house together with her husband Antonio, who works in civil construction. They have 3 children, who are 14, 08 and 03 years old.

Graciela works in the design, manufacture and sale of clothes for ladies, gentleman and children. She carries out this activity from a premises in her home. She has been running this business for 04 years. She says that she started this activity because she needed a job. A friend taught her to design and make clothes, so that she could set up in this line of work. Her husband helps her purchase materials.

She carries out this activity with some friends, with whom she has set up a society. She thinks that this business is profitable because companies request their manufacturing services for workers’ uniforms at a wholesale level.

Before setting up this business, her husband took responsibility for the household expenses. But his salary did not cover all their debts. Therefore, she decided to learn how to design and make clothes. In the future she hopes to set up a shop in the city market where she can sell her clothes.

This will be her fourth loan with Kiva. She is grateful for the financial support she has received that helps her keep her business going. With the amount requested, S/.1000 soles, she will buy merchandise, such as fabrics, cotton and thread, etc.
