Betty's story

Betty, 51 years of age, is a hard-working and enterprising woman. She lives alone in her own house. Her children are already independent and they live away from home.

Betty earns a living making clothes for women and children such as blouses, t-shirts, undergarments and other items. She does her sewing in a workshop in her house. She has been in the business for 6 years now. She started out with her friends making dresses for young ladies for their 15th birthday celebrations, and soon realized that it was a profitable business. She has many clients who recommend her because her designs are good.

Before beginning this business she owned neither a sewing machine nor a darning machine. These machines are essential to be able to work in this business. Her family gave her the financial support to buy her first sewing machine. In the future, together with her friends, she wants to establish a small business because their client base is increasing.

With the requested 1500 Peruvian Soles she will buy a greater quantity of supplies such as fabric, thread, and cotton among other items.
