A loan of $275 helped to purchase more bitter ball, pepper, onions, Vita and many items for her business.

Olivia's story

Olivia lives and works in St. Paul. St. Paul is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for its fish, due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past the Free-port. It is one of the poorer areas, and you will often find its residents living in sub-standard housing.

Olivia is 28 years old, single, and has three children, ages 10, 5, and 2. All are in school and live at home. For the past three years, she has been operating a small table market where she sells bitter ball (an eggplant-like vegetable, pepper, onions, Vita (juice drink), and many items. She started this business by selling dried fish around in her community with the little goods she could afford. She learned this way of selling from her friends.

She is requesting a loan to purchase more bitter ball, pepper, onions, Vita and many items for her business. Her plan is to expand her business even more.
