Damnak's Group's story

A local villager from Kampong Cham province’s Thbaung Khmum district, Damnak is 34 years old and married. She has four children, two of whom are still her dependents because they are still in school. Damnak manages one and a half hectares of land for cassava farming, which she has engaged in for 13 years and is able to earn about 19,000 KHR per day. Damnak is not a first-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has fully repaid her past loan wisely and managed to use it to support her family, especially to keep her children in school. Now, Damnak forms a group of two to apply for a new loan. As the leader, she will spend her loan portion to by cassava seedlings and to pay for labor, which she hires to plant her cassava and to plow her farmland. Damnak hopes that she can double the yield from her business and earn a good income.
