Aged 32 years old, Vit is a married mother of two children living in a rural village of the Sangke district, Cambodia. Both of her two children are still in school. To support her family, Vit has been farming rice and her husband works as a paid worker for seven years in the village. The current business earns her about $7 per day.
Vit has had three loans from VisionFund already and completely paid back the past loans which have helped her relieve her family's burden and improve their livelihoods. Now she is applying for another loan to buy more plots of farmland. She hopes this loan will help her to have more farmland to grow her rice on to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
