Pedro Juan's story

At age 55, Pedro still bakes bread and with his 20 years’ experience, he started his own business two years ago, doing what he knows and loves best, bread. Pedro worked in a well-known bakery and learned the best methods to work with flour, make candies, sandwiches, and different types of bread, sweet, piñata, cheese, crystalized fruit, Christmas, etc. Every day, from Monday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Pedro works in his field and distributes his products to stores in the area, who are his main customers. His goal in the future is to improve his fixed assets and increase production so that he can improve his life.

Pedro is asking for a Kiva loan and it will be his first loan through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. He will use the money to buy supplies in bulk and improve his position, because Pedro’s greatest challenge is to obtain sources of finance and this is what will make his Kiva loan a success. He will also gain more recognition in town and his sales will increase. This will benefit his family, made up of his wife and six children, between the ages of 14 and 23.
