A loan of $1,375 helped to buy clothing, jewelry and shoes, etc.

Alexandra Isabel's story

The Eloy Alfaro Communal Bank meets every two weeks in the Montecristi Canton, a place known for its rich pre-colonial history as well as its handicrafts which are recognized on a national and international level. It is where they make the famous Panama hats. This is where Alexandra lives. She is 32 years old and is in a relationship from which she has three children aged 11, 6, and 2. The two eldest are in school. Her partner is a solderer. Alexandra is a very hard-working woman who likes to work to help her partner out with the household expenses and the school fees for the children. She started her business 5 years ago and works from home. She sells all types of clothing, jewelry, shoes, toilet roll, and other types of products. She goes out to sell clothing in the city and also sells clothing by catalog, which she lets people buy on credit and pay every two weeks. She is going to use this loan to buy stock for her business including clothing, jewelry, shoes among other products. She has been a member of the communal bank for 2 years and she likes it because the loans allow her to buy stock for her business. Her dream is to grow her business.
