A loan of $750 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Solema's story

Solema, 44 years old, is a humble and modest woman. She lives with her husband and 6 children in their own home. Every morning for the past 26 years, she has gone out to her agricultural land outside her home. As is her custom, she starts with her work instruments. Every day, she has to pull the weeds that grow among her harvests. Her main products are potatoes, peas, corn, beans, and carrots, which she sells in the city's main market. Also, as a woman from the country, she works by raising bulls, which she buys to later fatten and sell in another city at a higher price. "I raise an average of 3 to 4 of them and earn a minimum of 200 soles," she mentions. Her main challenge is the cost of food and clothing for her children, for whom she keeps working and making an effort.

This is her fourth loan with Kiva and she is grateful for the financial support they provide. Solema will invest the 2000 soles into buying organic fertilizer to provide nutrients for her fields.
