Basilia's story

Basilia is 46 years old, married and the mother of five children. Three of her children are married and live in their own homes but her two youngest are still in school, in different grades. Basilia, her husband and her two youngest children live together under the same roof. Basilia herself didn't receive an education and learned to farm at a very young age (growing coffee, corn and beans). She has been farming independently for more than 26 years, thanks to her parents. Basilia owns the land that she works. Thanks to the good coffee seasons that she has has, she has been able to buy her own land. It is located 2 kilometers from her home and she travels there every day on foot. Basilia is asking for help so that she can fertilize her crops. This will help strengthen her plants and enable her to grow good beans which are attractive to her customers. Basilia's plans are to buy more land where she will grow coffee, corn and beans in larger quantities. This will make income for her family and she will be able to cover her youngest children's needs and educational expenses. Her dream is to see them become professionals.
