A loan of $200 helped to purchase more rice, pepper, onions, vita, etc., for her business.

Mary's story

Mary is 38 years old and lives in the West Point area, which has the most populated market in Montserrado County. She is living together with her fiancé, who is a carpenter. They have three children, ages 12 to 9, who are in school and live at home. She described herself as a hardworking person.

For the past eight years, she has been running a shop in the local market where she sells food ingredients such as rice, pepper, onions, and vita. She likes her business because of the ways customers buy from her. She started this business with money given to her by her fiancé. She walks every day to buy her ingredients since her shop is much closer. She is requesting a loan to purchase more rice, pepper, onions, vita, etc., for her business. She plans to buy a piece of land and build a house.

She likes to say thanks to the lenders who support BRAC Liberia to enable small-business people to increase their business volume.
